Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

It wasn’t until college that Dr. Lee decided that dentistry might be her ‘thing’. She’d always loved life sciences and the living world around her. She also enjoyed working with her hands to create pleasing results. But most of all she wanted to be in a career where her skills and talents would help bring healing and comfort to people. So when she was exploring the different health sciences careers and came across dentistry she found that it was a perfect combination of what she was looking for! She has never looked back and loves mentoring students who have an interest in dentistry.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Lee completed her undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis, with a major in Biology and a minor in Fine Arts. She earned her dental doctorate at Columbia University in NYC. She has continued to challenge herself through various continuing education courses throughout her dental career. Having completed the full curriculum at the Dawson Academy for comprehensive dentistry as well as an intensive course in implant dentistry with the Oregon AAID, she is well-equipped to restore a patient’s smile so that it is beautiful, balanced, and comfortable.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Dr. Lee would likely smile and say, “My days at home are often busier than my days at work!” She and her husband David, who is a physician, have three kids ages 15, 13, and 8. Add to that two furry friends (a dog and a cat) and some backyard chickens and you can probably agree that it’s a full house! Between meal prepping, carpool rides, and other social commitments (Dr. Lee actively volunteers with Medical Teams International and her church) she finds her peace gardening, birdwatching, and hitting the trails around Beaverton. When her kids are a bit more grown up she would love to travel more internationally as she grew up moving around a lot and enjoyed experiencing different cultures and various natural wonders.
